Iometer is an I/O subsystem measurement and characterization tool
for single computers and cluster systems. It is widely used within
the storage industry.
Originally created by Intel, the Iometer software was announced in
February 1998. In 2001 Intel discontinued development and subsequently
handed the software over to the Open Source Development Lab (OSDL)
for release under the Intel Open Source License. In November 2001
the OSDL registered a project at SourceForge.net and released an
initial version.
In 2002 I got involved in bugfixing. Experiencing no further development
of the software I started bundling patches from me and others in a new
tarball - providing it on my homepage. Getting other individuals involved
we finally relaunched the project in Febrary 2003. Since then the
software is maintained by an international group of individuals.
Recent versions of Iometer are available from the Iometer project
homepage and the SourceForge download area. The files made available
below are old version that are no longer provided by the project:
